Each guard booth is constructed according to the needs of the customer with the help of proprietary designs by Kontek. Each guard booth is built meeting requirements or specific design requests to provide immediate safety. Kontek provides ballistic glass & both metallic and non-metallic protection, up to .50 cal AP and varying levels of blast protection.

Materials and Fabrication

A guard shack is typically 4 to 8 feet in diameter. Different types of guard booths are made from different materials. However, a typical guard booth is made of heavy-duty steel doors with tempered safety glass windows. It’s also all welded aluminum construction with 360-degree visibility. A guard shack can be designed to withstand bullets and an explosion. They have become more common since the September 11 attack on the World Trade Centers. Today, they are often used to protect institutions like government buildings, college campuses, museums and transportation terminals.

When it comes to critical infrastructure protection, Kontek is the problem solver. They offer innovative designs, rapid deployment, full scale testing and force protection. “Faced with a seemingly impossible mission: design, manufacture and install state-of-the-art perimeter security for 12 nuclear power plants in nine states within 90 days, Kontek Industries rose to the challenge. (In April 2003, the NRC issued three security orders that mandated nuclear power plants to implement more stringent security measure by October 29, 2003). In an unprecedented 90 days, Kontek Industries designed, manufactured and installed 6,000 state-of-the-art delay access barriers in 12 nuclear facilities in nine states ahead of schedule.”
